English Lab Β· Primary 1 to SS 3

Struggling with English? Find the gap. Fix it.

A student who can't follow a comprehension passage, or who loses marks on concord every time, is often stuck much further back: on sounds, spelling, plurals or tenses. English Lab finds the root gap, names the misunderstanding behind each wrong answer, teaches the skill underneath and practises it until it's mastered. Every question can be read aloud, so a weak reader is never shut out.

Why more of the same doesn't work

Struggling isn't laziness. It's a gap underneath.

When a student writes "the informations are useful" or "each of the boys have", more essays won't fix it. They don't yet see which words can't take an -s, or why "each" is singular. A child who reads slowly may still be unsure of letter sounds. English Lab reads the clue in every wrong answer and goes back to the root, kindly, at the child's pace.

How it works

Diagnose. Teach. Correct. Close the gap.

  1. 1DiagnoseA short check (15 questions at most) starts at the child's class and digs down under every wrong answer, to sounds, spelling and simple grammar if need be: the root gap.
  2. 2TeachA one-minute lesson for each skill: the idea, a worked example and the mistake to watch for, read aloud if they want.
  3. 3CorrectNew sentences every time, marked at once. A wrong answer is matched to the misunderstanding it shows (common Nigerian-English slips included) and explained in plain words.
  4. 4Close the gap4 right-and-sure answers in a row master a skill. It comes back after 3, 7, 21 and 60 days to make sure it sticks, and the next skill opens.

Where does your child's English break down?

Let them answer on their own (tap πŸ”Š to hear a question), and say honestly whether they were sure. You'll see what's secure, what's shaky, and the gap to fix first.

Which class is the child in?

About 15 questions or fewer, starting at that class and digging down wherever something is shaky. Let the child answer on their own, and be honest about "sure" or "not sure".

Primary 1 to SS 3. Whatever the class, the check digs down to sounds, spelling and simple grammar if that is where the trouble starts. Tap πŸ”Š to hear any question read aloud.

Built for children who find English hard

Confidence comes from getting it right.

A child who struggles with English has often been corrected far more than praised. English Lab starts where they are secure, so the first answers are right, and builds up one small step at a time. Mistakes are explained kindly, never marked with red crosses, and every question can be heard as well as read.

Every slip, shown in their own writing.

Children write an essay, a story or a letter, and English Lab checks spelling, grammar, sentences, paragraphs and letter layout at once, marks each slip in their own words, and links it to the skill that fixes it. Fix it and check again. Here is a paragraph with some typical slips: press the button, then try correcting it.

Why parents trust it

No AI guessing. No stranger. You see everything.

No AI, so the same right answer every time

Every question, answer and explanation is written into the lab and checked, so it never makes up a rule. That also keeps the price low.

Built on how children learn

Foundations first, honest sure-or-not answers (Dr Timi Hyacinth's four states), mastery before moving on, and spaced review so it sticks.

You see the progress

Skills mastered, the gaps being fixed and what's next, on your dashboard. Your child's link works on two devices and asks for no personal details.

Questions

Before you buy.

Which children is it for?

Any child from Primary 1 to SS 3 who finds English hard: slow reading, weak spelling, the same grammar slips, or low marks in comprehension and Use of English. Every stage opens the stages below it too, because the gap is often lower down. The free gap check shows whether it will help.

My child reads slowly. Can they still use it?

Yes. Every question, reading passage and lesson has a πŸ”Š button that reads it aloud in a British voice, using the device's own speech, so nothing is sent anywhere. The youngest skills use pictures and taps rather than typing.

What does it cost?

For one child, a term of 120 days: Primary 1 to 6 ₦6,000, JSS 1 to 3 (BECE) ₦8,000, SS 1 to 3 (WAEC, NECO, JAMB) ₦12,000. Each stage includes every stage below it. You can buy 1 to 3 terms. Nothing renews by itself.

Which stage should I choose?

Your child's current stage: Primary for Primary 1 to 6, JSS for JSS 1 to 3, SS for SS 1 to 3. The lower stages come with it, so the lab can go back as far as the gap does.

Does it cover WAEC, NECO, BECE and JAMB?

It covers the skills Use of English tests: concord, lexis (nearest and opposite in meaning), idioms, question tags, reported speech, oral English (vowels, consonants and stress), comprehension and summary, and fixes the gaps under them. For timed past-paper practice, add Exam Boost.

Does it mark essays?

It checks them, without AI: the writing check finds slips in spelling, grammar (Nigerian-English slips included), sentences, paragraphs and letter layout, shows each one in the child's own words, and links it to the skill that fixes it. A child can have 3 new essays checked a week, and fix and re-check each one for free. It doesn't give a mark or judge the ideas: that is for a teacher or parent. Try it free above.

Does it use AI?

No. Every question is made by code from sentences and word lists we wrote, with its answer, the common wrong answers and the reason, so it never invents a rule.

How does my child get in after I pay?

At once: the thank-you page has an "Open English Lab" button on your child's own private link, which we also email to you. It works on two devices, such as a phone and a laptop, and can be added to the home screen like an app.

How much time does it take?

Ten to fifteen minutes a day is plenty: a lesson and a few questions. Short and often beats long and rare.

We're a school. Can our pupils use it?

Yes, at 20% off: Primary 1 to 6 ₦4,800, JSS 1 to 3 (BECE) ₦6,400, SS 1 to 3 (WAEC, NECO, JAMB) ₦9,600 a pupil, a term. Email hello@promptpaddijunior.com and we'll set it up.

Can I get a refund?

Payments are non-refundable (see our terms), which is why the gap check is free to try first, with no account and no card.
