The lesson
AI stands for artificial intelligence. It is a computer program that has learned from lots and lots of examples, so it can do jobs that seem clever: answer questions, find faces in photos, or suggest the next song.
AI is a tool, like a calculator or a pencil. It is not a person. It has no feelings, it does not really know you, and it cannot be your friend, even when it chats in a friendly way.
You may already use AI without noticing: a voice assistant, a map that finds the quickest way, a game character that learns your moves, or a phone that opens when it sees your face.
Some machines seem clever but do not use AI. A torch, a light switch and an alarm clock just follow one fixed rule. They never learn anything new.
