About the Navigator

School Improvement Navigator helps headteachers, senior leaders, trust leaders, advisers and governors turn a school improvement priority into a clear, measurable and actionable plan.

It supports professional judgement. It does not replace it.

Every plan is a draft to review and adapt with your team. The Navigator does not replace school leadership expertise, external review, your trust's or local authority's processes, or current statutory guidance. It does not make inspection judgements or predict inspection outcomes, and it cannot guarantee that any action will lead to improvement.

How it plans

The Navigator interprets your priority, refines it into one objective, chooses three to five feasible actions with a rationale for each, suggests responsible roles and milestones, keeps implementation indicators apart from outcome measures, suggests evidence sources, names what is uncertain or missing, and writes strategic questions for governors.

  • It never invents statistics, baselines, targets, research citations, statutory requirements or inspection judgements. Missing baselines are marked "Baseline to be confirmed", and targets "Suggested target: review locally".
  • A check runs on every plan: any percentage, score or figure you did not give is removed and marked to be confirmed.
  • If your answers are too thin for a credible plan, it asks you questions first, and that does not use one of your plans.
  • The improvement areas follow the evaluation areas of Ofsted's renewed school inspection framework. Check them against the current inspection toolkit, which may change.
  • The optional ISO 21001 lens frames the plan as a Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle. It does not make a school compliant with, or certified to, the standard.
  • Safeguarding concerns must always go through your school's safeguarding procedures and statutory guidance, not this tool.

Live plans and the demonstration example

Live plans are written by an AI model from your answers, with full access (12 months and up to 30 plans for £39, paid once). The example plan is a fixed demonstration, written by hand for a fictional school, and is always labelled as such. It is never presented as generated from your answers.

Privacy notice

First version. This notice describes how the Navigator works today. It will be reviewed, with the data protection impact assessment, before a paid public release.

Who we are

PromptPaddi Limited, Registered in England and Wales, company number 17515862. Registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (C2065004). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: hello@promptpaddijunior.com.

Please do not enter personal or confidential information

The Navigator does not ask for school names, pupil or staff names, or confidential records, and you should not enter them. Describe groups and roles instead (for example “disadvantaged pupils in Year 8” or “the English lead”). Before a plan is generated, your answers are checked for email addresses, phone numbers, pupil numbers and what look like names: some are blocked, and you are asked to confirm the rest.

Your answers and your plans

  • Collected: the answers you type into the plan builder.
  • Processed: when you press Generate, your answers and our planning instructions are sent over an encrypted connection to our AI provider, Anthropic (the Claude API), which writes the draft plan and returns it to your browser.
  • Not stored by us: your answers and plans are not saved in our database or written to our logs. They are kept only in your browser tab (session storage) until you close the tab or press Start a new plan. Copy, print or download a plan to keep it.
  • Shared with the AI provider: Anthropic processes your answers to write the plan, under its commercial terms, which state that it does not use API data to train its models and keeps it only for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring. Anthropic is based in the United States. Check Anthropic's current privacy and data retention terms for the details.
  • Recorded for each plan: the date, the AI model used, how much text was processed (tokens) and the cost. Never the content.

If you buy full access

  • We keep your email address, the payment reference and amount, your private access link, the number of plans used and the dates your access starts and ends.
  • Card payments are taken by Stripe for PromptPaddi Limited. We never see or store your card details.
  • Your access link and receipt are emailed through our email delivery provider (Resend).
  • Purchase records are kept for as long as the law requires for accounting, normally six years.

Cookies and analytics

  • One essential cookie, on a device that has opened an access link: it holds your private access token so the device can generate plans. It expires when your access ends.
  • Page-view counts through Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not read what you type.
  • No advertising pixels or tracking on the Navigator's pages, and nothing that captures your plan content.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing hello@promptpaddijunior.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
